In 2010, Lehigh Acres was a community still finding its footing. The economy was tough, the neighborhood was evolving, and good Cuban food was hard to come by. That’s when our family decided to open our doors — not because it was easy, but because we believed in this community.
Over fifteen years later, we’re still here. And we couldn’t be more proud of that.
Azúcar Café began as a small, family-run spot built around the recipes of our beloved grandmother, Mamama. Her Cuban sweets and black beans were legendary among family and friends, and we wanted to share that legacy with the world — or at least with Lehigh Acres, which is a pretty great place to start.
Through hurricanes, economic downturns, a global pandemic, and all the challenges that come with running a small restaurant, we’ve stayed. Not because it was always easy, but because of you — our customers, many of whom have been with us since day one. We’ve watched your kids grow up. We’ve catered your quinceañeras, your corporate lunches, your family reunions. You’ve become part of our story, and we’ve hopefully become a little part of yours.
Being the longest-serving Cuban restaurant in Lehigh Acres is something we carry with great pride — and great responsibility. It means we have to keep showing up. Keep cooking with integrity. Keep honoring the traditions that got us here.
If you’ve been coming to Azúcar since the early days, thank you. If you’re new to the neighborhood or just discovering us for the first time — welcome. We can’t wait to feed you.
